Ukrainian people have a strong desire to succeed despite being comforting and form. They strive to be the best at anything, including parenting, cooking, housekeeping, pursuing a career, and satisfying their husbands. Therefore, it should not be surprising that Ukrainian customs are deeply ingrained with impact. Although it can be difficult to keep these deeply ingrained traditions alive, the findings are well worth it.

While many traditions change with the times and political conventions, marriage rites are a constant that are deeply embedded in Ukraine society. Matchmaking, viewing, the bachelor party, and the real meeting are the four required components of the Ukrainian bride service.

A man and his relatives had bring gifts to the princess’s home during the matching meeting. The lady would then be asked to accept the groom’s matrimony proposal, and if she did, her kids and starosty (older married guys from the community serving as magistrates) would be there to witness the wedding.

During this time, the groom had purchase his future wife from her family, which is typically done by giving her a bottle of horilka and an embroidery made of rushnyk that represents the beginning of their innovative relationship. The rushnyk serves as a symbol of harmony between the two individuals.

The newlyweds are welcomed by their families with wheat, water, and liquor on the bridal day, along with starosty. A significant circular loaf of bread with a traverse in the center and salt on best is furthermore served, or «korovai.» The honeymooners are said to receive good fortune and success from this breads.

The bride or her sneaker will then be taken by the man and his best guy. The payment is therefore due from the pair, who must either pay it in cash or by completing a series of amusing tasks. The bride will be revealed and the meeting may start after the activity or payment is finished.

Wreaths are placed on the woman’s minds during the meeting to make them the king and queen of their individual households. The pair next raises a glass of prosecco to commemorate their love for one another and the union of their lifestyles.

Ukrainians do certainly adhere to this superstition, in contrast to the United States, where it is unlucky to see the bride before the bride. The wife is traditionally decked out in white during the service, and her face is covered by a mask. The bride may remove her outfit after the ceremony to reveal her real color, which is customarily crimson and represents purity. Last but not least, the few steps on the red-embroidered rushnyk, which represents their fresh union and serves as a reminder of their grandparents. The couple will then receive a smooch and bands as their crowning ceremony. It can be difficult to preserve Ukrainian practices, but it’s important for couples to do so in order to protect their identification and history. Youthful generations can continue to honor their predecessors and uphold these practices for years to come by combining the old and the new.
